Presentations
and Workshops
Presentations and workshop sessions are opportunities
for local partnership teams to showcase innovation,
research or exemplary activities within their partnerships.
Local
partnership members are invited to present research
in which they are currently engaged. Conference participants
will be encouraged to visit, discuss and share these
interactive sessions.
All attendees are encouraged to submit proposals in
the categories cited below. Current Holmes Scholars
and alumni and Teachers for a New Era (TNE) institutions
are especially invited to present on project and research
in which they are presently immersed. Conference participants
are invited to submit a proposal addressing one of these
three strands:

Submission
Guidelines
for 2007 Proposals
All proposals, with the exception of posters, will be
submitted to a panel of reviewers before being accepted.
Proposals will be evaluated using the following criteria:
* Clarity and coherence of proposal
* Relevance to the strand theme
* Potential to stimulate active engagments of participants
* Relevance and usefulness to participants
* Contribution to scholarship and/or new or innovative
practice regarding partnership
* Appeal to conference audience
To
submit a proposal, you must include the following:

Proposal
summary: Identify
the strand [Research, Practice or Policy] that
the proposal addresses. Provide an exhaustive
proposal summary. Identify the objectives, the specific
skills to be taught, and the expected learning outcomes.
Summary must be thorough as this is the piece that
will be reviewed. Maximum 3 pages (double-spaced,
single-sided, 12-point font, 8.5" x 11"). |

Proposal
abstract: Provide brief abstract including
description and presentation objectives. This piece
will be included in the conference program. Maximum
of 75 words. |

Proposal
Description: Include
three (3) one-or-two word descriptors identifying
the overall theme of your presentation. Example:
Teacher education, urban middle schools, community
collaboration. |
All submissions must be made electronically
and must be received by July 31, 2006
at 5:00 p.m. CDT in order to be considered.
All applicants will be notified by September 30, 2006
regarding acceptance of their proposal. Notice of acceptance
will be sent to the session organizer along with a confirmation
of presentation format, time and place. The session
organizer is responsible for sharing information with
any other session participants. As
an alternative, session participants will be given the
opportunity to present in a Poster Presentation format
if their proposal is not accepted based on the criteria
described above.

Poster
Sessions
These
sessions offer an interactive setting where participants
can engage in in-depth discussions with the presenters
about topics at hand. Holmes Scholars are encouraged
to participate.
Instructions for Submitting Poster Presentations
All
submissions must be made electronically and must be
received by July 31, 2006 by 5:00 pm CDT
in order to be considered. All applicants will be notified
by September 30, 2006 regarding acceptance of their
proposal. Notice of acceptance will be sent to the session
organizer along with a confirmation of presentation
format, time and place. The session organizer is responsible
for sharing this information with any other session
