The Holmes Partnership Board of Directors would like
to announce the creation of the Holmes Partnership
– Teachers Network Leadership Institute (HP-TNLI).
This network was unanimously endorsed by the board as
an opportunity to support teacher leadership at the
K-12 level and to help communicate the high quality
work within our local partnerships across the country.
The purpose of the Holmes Partnership – Teachers Network
Leadership Institute (HP-TNLI)is to:
1. Promote teacher leadership in schools that work in partnership with colleges and universities for the improvement of
teacher education and student learning.
2. Encourage the continuing education of teacher leaders in schools, with particular attention to graduate programs and
professional development that are based on the propositions of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
3. Recognize the contributions of teachers who are clinical practitioners in these schools.
All teachers involved in local partnerships are encouraged
to become active in the HP-TNLI. Those who attend the
2005 annual conference will have the opportunity to
participate in a special session to explore effective
practices from the local partnerships and contribute
to the vision of the network.
The timeliness of this network is important with the
field of teacher education focusing on the preparation
and the retention of teachers as well as federal legislation
such as the No Child Left Behind Act placing
added emphasis on teacher education and professional
development. Teacher leaders are vital to these discussions
for their schools and universities.
The application deadline for this year has passed.
